ClickFunnels is a fantastic marketing tool, providing businesses of all shapes and sizes with a whole suite of fantastic tools to help build and launch online sales funnels fast. But is ClickFunnels good for SEO?
Some funnel hackers don’t even really care about SEO while many others are all-in on the importance of organic search traffic.
So today, I’m going to dispel the myths and uncover the truth about whether or not ClickFunnels is good for SEO.
Let’s get right to the point:

… if you want your ClickFunnels page to be the best it can possibly be and to get the highest possible search engine ranking possible, then there are a few tactics you can deploy that I’m going to teach you below, so keep reading!
Is ClickFunnels good for SEO? No, here’s why.
What most funnel hackers don’t know is that with all the convenience that comes with all the drag & drop features in ClickFunnels there’s also a huge cost to pay in terms of performance and efficiency – it’s a big trade-off.
ClickFunnels is an amazing marketing tool – I’ve been using it myself and for my clients for the longest time now.
However, what it delivers in terms of features and functionality, it loses virtually all of the efficiency that would come from a well-built, custom-coded page.
And one of the things it loses is something referred to as the concept of “semantic markup”.
Before your eyes glaze over thinking I’m just going to go off on a bunch of “tech” stuff, think of it this way.
Having an efficient, high-performance website is kind of like having a high-performance car. And if you’ve ever seen a high-performance car, you know they virtually always look amazing, like this one:
But the most important part of the car isn’t how it looks – it’s the stuff under the hood that really does all the work and gives it its reputation.
So if you don’t use high-octane fuel, high-quality parts, and precision-engineered equipment, your high-performance car really isn’t going to be much more than a fancy piece of eye candy.
When you power your website with inefficient, bloated, non-semantic coding, it leaches out all the power from your site, and it makes it infinitely harder for search engines to understand what your page is about.
And, unfortunately, that’s the reality for ClickFunnels as a page builder. On the surface it can look like a Ferrari, but under the hood it performs like a Ford Pinto.
And it’s going to get you from point A to point B, but it’s not going to do it in any kind of high-performance, or attention-grabbing kind of way.
And, just like a Ford Pinto, ClickFunnels is built for a purpose entirely different than a high-performance search engine optimized website.
That’s the bad news.

The reality is that most funnel hackers don’t care about SEO at all.

If you’ve made the investment in ClickFunnels as a platform and invested the time & effort to get it built right you need to know how you can make your ClickFunnels pages more search friendly, even in spite of its limitations.
There are a couple things you need to do on all your sales pages to make this happen.
How to Make a ClickFunnels page search engine friendly
So you can’t really change the underlying code of ClickFunnels. That’s not the point – it’s a page builder and you’re not a developer, so that’s not important to you – that makes sense, right?
But we can still optimize the page as much as possible so here’s what you need to do.
Use titles and subtitles properly on your ClickFunnels page
To make your ClickFunnels page more search-friendly, make sure you use the title and subtitle tools properly.
It’s really easy to get in the habit of copying & cloning title objects and not using them properly in ClickFunnels, but if you’re serious about wanting your ClickFunnels’ built sales page to have any chance of ranking in the search engines, you have to make sure that you’re creating your titles the right way.
Use your keywords in your titles and subtitles on your ClickFunnels page
Writing copy for a sales page is a lot different than writing a post, or a resource page for a traditional “website”.
But if you want your page indexed by the search engines you need to use the right keywords in your titles and subtitles throughout the page.
This means you’ve got to think about what keywords you’re trying to rank for, what people are searching for and how they’re asking the question they want the answer to, then put it all together with a well-crafted section title that includes your keywords in a way that will tell Google – and the other search engines – what your page is all about!
Complete your SEO meta data fields in the ClickFunnels page builder
The SEO meta data on your ClickFunnels page – or any web page for that matter – isn’t anywhere near as important as it was in the old days of SEO, but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore it.
“Google, Bing and other search engines stopped using meta descriptions in their ranking algorithms years ago.
That said, the right meta description can lead to more clicks. Which is a direct ranking factor.”
This is still one of the things that search engines read when they hit your page, and it’s one of the few standard SEO features available to you in ClickFunnels, so you need to make use of it.
Should I use ClickFunnels if it’s not SEO-friendly?
Just because it’s not very SEO friendly doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it!
Yes – ClickFunnels is a page builder. And yes, it’s true that the code it generates isn’t very clean.
And, even though it’s a powerful page builder, it’s also a lot more than that.
For non-techie people who want to start using online sales funnels for their business – whether you’re a traditional brick & mortar business, or an online business – ClickFunnels provides you with everything that you need to build and launch your own online sales funnels as easily as it can possibly be done.

You can create any kind of sales funnel you can imagine – lead magnet funnels, unboxing funnels, presentation funnels and phone funnels (the four core funnels essential to any business online).

And so much more.
Creating the custom code to build any of these kinds of projects would be a monumental undertaking to say the least, and no sane person would ever want – or need – to do that in 2021.

Don’t let that phrase ‘semantic markup’ intimidate you.
All that really means is that a web page that using semantic markup means that the coding structure of the page follows a set of guidelines and best-practices, focusing in on performance and efficiency, that reinforce the meaning of the page overall instead of focusing on the visual aspects of the page.
When Google is crawling your page you build with ClickFunnels it’s looking for several things, one of which is the overall structure and organization.
Google wants to know what your page is all about so it can decide how it should be ranked.
To do that it relies on the structure you used to build your page.
Most sales funnel pages aren’t worried about proper structure or organization, so Google cannot determine the value of the content on the page properly because of the way the page is constructed when you build it with ClickFunnels.
In the developer’s world that I live in every day, ClickFunnels pages suffer from what we call “code bloat”.
Code bloat means that the page is “bloated” with a lot of extra code – a lot more than is necessary to build a page properly.
Why does Google care about semantic markup?
You might be thinking, “why does that matter”?
And I get it – the underlying code isn’t something that anyone other than people like me look at.
But that’s the only way for Google to tell what your page is about!
Proper code structure is incredibly important when it comes to helping Google know what it wants to know about your page – it makes your funnel page meaningful to the bots that are crawling your page.
Why does Google care about how fast your site loads?
Google cares about page load speed because it’s directly tied to a user’s experience.
If a page loads slow, then it directly affects that user’s experience, and if the user doesn’t have a great experience using Google, then they’re much more inclined to switch to using another search engine, and Google wants to keep you
Quality markup makes your page much faster. The browser doesn’t have to parse through all that extra code when it’s built properly to load the page, so everything happens faster when you have a good code base.
Good page structure and markup is accessible
One thing that you probably haven’t even thought about is that there are a lot of people who will use an assistive device to access your funnel pages.
Accessibility isn’t something you hear about in the digital marketing world, but it’s incredibly important.
If your code is bloated, it’s extremely difficult for those using assistive devices, like page readers, to understand how they should present the page to the visitor.
